Week 6 - Artist - Camile & Sarah Elgart

Camile Dalmais

Camile is a French singer-songwriter. I listened to songs from her album Le Fil.

1.     "La jeune fille aux cheveux blancs"

2.     "Ta douleur"

3.     "Assise"

4.     "Janine I"

5.     "Vous"

6.     "Baby Carni Bird"

7.     "Pour que l'amour me quitte"

8.     "Senza"

9.     "Janine II"

10.  "Vertige"

11.  "Au port"

12.  "Janine III"

13.  "Pâle septembre"

14.  "Rue de Ménilmontant"

15.  "Quand je marche

I listened to all of these tracks. The peculiar thing I found was that Camile's voice felt like an instrument. After research, it was found that she sang in a low voice with the same 'B' tone. All the songs on the b-side were just sung as if talking to someone. Her b-side music 'Senza' was particularly unusual. Each voice produced a note as if playing an instrument. Her last song, 'Quand je marche', includes a part that speaks in French. I think Camile used her voice as an instrument in an innovative way.

She is also the singer who sang the OST for the movie Ratatouille. I had loved the song ever since, and when I heard her Le Fil album, I said, "Is this the same singer?" She also had doubts that Le Fil's album looks pretty unusual in that she sang all the songs in a low tone.

Sarah Elgart

Sarah Elgart worked as a choreographer in Los Angeles for several years. Her works generally transform bus terminals, airports, and museums into movement, music, and media. These unusual ways of expression were able to attract the attention of the audience. Sarah Elgart has been working on regional projects. She has created her work at LAX, the Los Angeles Cultural Center, and the Getty Center.

I don't know about dancing. When I saw Sarah Elgart's choreography, I was like, "How can you think like that?" was the first that came to mind. I need to study more about dancing to know what she is expressing.

Camile and Sarah Elgart, both artists, have one thing in common. In the case of Camile, as seen in her Le Fil album, the same singing method continues with the same style. If you look at Sarah Elgart's choreography, the concept remains constant from start to finish. Camile and Sarah Elgart, The work of these two artists, was unfamiliar to me. It was an area of style that I had never seen or heard of before.
