Week 11 - Artist - Choice

G-Dragon

I want to explain G-Dragon, a singer, and artist in Korea, as an activity this week. G-Dragon succeeded in gaining global fame through music and fashion. He is also deeply interested in art and contemporary art. Many works from art museums he visited and designs inspired by him are uploaded on G-Dragon's Instagram. He has been continuously researching and developing his brand.

The collaboration of G-Dragon's brand "PEACEMINUISONE" with "Fragment Design" led by Hiroshi Fujiwara, who is called the godfather of street fashion, was well received.

Another collaboration is with Nike. He worked on Air Force 1 in collaboration with the world-famous brand Nike. G-Dragon has posted a custom Nike Air Force version on his Instagram in the past.

G-Dragon, who is active in various fields, is also known as a trend leader. In 2017, he was successful as a solo singer as much as he released a solo hit song on his album "Kwon Ji-Yong" and toured the world. Currently, the world is paying a lot of attention to his music and composing and producing abilities. One of G-Dragon's talents is that self-proving one's value raises the group's brand value. G-Dragon first achieved success as a singer, perfecting his image. He did other art activities with created images, creating and promoting his brand. Success in both fields as a singer and an artist makes G-Dragon's worth more clearly.

Junseo Yuk

The next artist to introduce is Junseo Yuk, who is very popular in Korea these days. He served UDT SEAL in Korea. He is currently a Korean painter. Junseo Yuk has an unusual background; in 2014, he was discharged as a UDT/SEAL. He served in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion (EOD) of the Naval Special Warfare Group.

Recently, in Korea, a program called "Steel Troops" in which people from various special forces come out and fight against each other has been a hit. In this program, Junseo Yuk became even more famous because of his handsome face and his unusual job of being a painter.

Junseo Yuk, who majored in art, showed off his colorful charms as an artist. He makes videos of himself painting or drawing. His drawing technique has a powerful feeling. When I first saw Junseo Yuk's work, I felt very intense rather than soft. I thought that he expressed the message he wanted to convey in the complex drawing.

It seems complicated and great to be at the top in two fields like G-Dragon and Junseo Yuk. It is tough to succeed in one field, but two or more areas are significant. It was the moment when I realized how hard they had worked while watching the works of G-Dragon and Junseo Yuk.
